Hi - I spent a lot of time in Siberia, mostly Baikal, as an undergrad & grad student & always liked B. crassifolia there, deciding one day I'd maybe grow it in my garden. Zoom ahead .. a few decades .. and finally I'm settled enough to have a house & thus a permanent garden!

(I'm posting this in rx gardens, since at Baikal it always grew in the rocky forests... hopefully it's not considered 'crass' by fancy alpine standards)

So, looking for some seeds (or perhaps a cutting or plant). None of the plant places I've bought from have it, and not sure of the reputability of some of the sources found on der veb (that's my east german pun there if you get it).

Anybody know of a source or maybe have some to supply? Ideally I'd get something that looks as close to the native Siberian plant rather than some hopped-up variety (as a field botanist I still prefer the wild ones!)

Any leads or ideas? Great, thanks!

(I'll ask later about Cerastium biebersteinii, 'Crimean edelweiss' that I know from .. another place, but that seems maybe a little easier to find .. and Trollius asiaticus from Baikal... And Paris quadrifolia from belarus...)

I've got two big clumps of some hopped-up variety that I'd be happy to share some of if you change your mind on that Smiling
or take a chance on a source for seeds or plant--most of my experiences have been pretty good with ordering from der veb so far anyway

Trollius asiaticus is available at Wrightman Alpines - their 2023 catalog just went on-line a few days ago.

I did get some B. /pacifica/ seeds also Trollius asiaticus & T. europaeus seeds from Sheffields just the other day, a lot less complicated than plants from Canada to americaland, so I'll see how those go...
