Just like everyone in zone 9a, my plants are brown and some are mushy. But the hippesprekelia bulbs survived and gave me the first bloom of 2023:

Is it gorgeous or what?
No other scapes from the rest of hippesprekelia bulbs☹️ though.

Show me your blooms.

That is indeed beautiful! I'm afraid I've never heard of that particular flower though. Smiling

Yes, it was a beautiful surprise bloom!

Anne, here's info on these from plantsdelight:

We are pleased to offer this rare man-made bigeneric hybrid from Mr. Udai Pradhan of India. This '70s cross of Hippeastrum (amaryllis) x Sprekelia formosissima (Aztec lily) resulted in a perfect intermediate between the two plants. H. 'Durga Pradhan' makes a large clump, as it offsets quite readily. In midspring (April-May), the clumps of narrow amaryllis-like foliage are topped with the 1' tall stalks of crimson-red sprekelia-shaped flowers.

They are most unique flowers!

Lovely! The Narcissus here was a total bust. We had a quick and hard freeze with no snow or ice to insulate. It nipped them. The daffodils are struggling to deliver a few blooms as well. Thinking I need to move further south.

Please keep sharing your lovely blooms
