A tree (Suebelle Sapote,Casimiroa edulis) that gives fresh sweet fruit all year more or less. At any one time it has flowers,or green fruit and ripe fruit. I don't know of another tree that does that.
The taste is like vanilla custard.

Is this your tree Stan510? If so, where are you growing this? somewhere in the tropics or somewhere hot like California?? It would be great to have one but it looks like a tropical fruit which definitely would not grow in my zone 2b.

There are a few tropical fruit trees that go by the name sapote. They are mostly unrelated, but yes, all are tropical. Some can be grown in California, but all are from Central and South America and do not grow much farther north in the Southeast than the Miami area. Perhaps a little farther north but not much. My personal favorite is Mamey. But growing these trees is out of reach for most people in the continental US unless grown as greenhouse specimens

Awwww, I miss out on all the good stuff. I had never heard of sapote before. There are so many strange, delicious tropical fruits that my local grocery store brings in and after tasting them I often think it would be great to be able to grow them but, unfortunately, it is not to be for me in Z2b. Sad

Some of them are unavailable in whole form unless you live where they are grown because they are too fragile to stand up to shipping. I get Mamey as a frozen fruit pulp at the Latin market (also soursop, guava, lulo, passion fruit and tamarind). I use them to make smoothies.
I can buy fresh guava, passion fruit and tamarind here but the fruit pulp is easier to use.

This is more subtropical in that the cultivar likes mild summers- not hot- but there are cultivars that can take all the heat and humidity of the tropics. This is "Suebelle" a compact tree compared to some cultivars that grow like giants.
The Subelle can have flowers, green, and ripe fruit all at the same time, all year. Versatile!...can be made into smoothies also. Taste like vanilla custard. Should be more popular in California, but few know about it.

I love these tropical fruits. I planted a Jackfruit tree LOL in my greenhouse.
