Would anyone know of such a geranium? When looking at pictures of houses in Europe I notice that many houses have window boxes with geraniums that cascade over the box. I would be interested in purchasing seeds of such if I knew what to be looking for. I know there are ivy geraniums but these appear to be something different.

I was thinking ivy geraniums. Do you have a link to one of those pictures?

No, sorry I don't have a link but if you watch some travel shows about Europe you will see these hanging over the balcony flower pots. They may be ivy geraniums but then they must be doubles because the flowers look fuller than the ivy geranium sold in my region. They are only single and unimpressive. Have researched a bit on the Net and if I look up trailing/cascading they talk about ivy. I have a packet of McKenzie ivy geranium seeds that I haven't planted yet but, as I say, the flowers are only singles.

I know what you mean about all the geranium boxes in Europe. I saw a lot of them in Germany. It's so boring here.
Try looking up cascading, trailing and Zonal-hybrids and see if that is what you are looking for. I feel these are done by cuttings. I did not get any hits so far for seeds with any zonale flowers on an ivy plant but someone else here might know about them.
Search the following terms: geranium Great Balls of Fire series, the Cascade Series by sygenta "Royal Lavander", Geranium interspecific, Calliope.
These are crosses between the two types of geraniums, zonal and ivy, so I don't know if you will find seeds. If you do, they will probably be expensive.

Like these?
They are commonly called Ivy geraniums but the genus is pelargonium, you can look through the database for different varieties.

Yes, this what I was talking about. Always preferred this look to the upright pelargoniums but then again those Martha Washingtons are to die for.
Thanks Sue and Loretta for your assistance.

I had my hubby build me 5 boxes for the balcony out front since I fell in love with those I saw everywhere in Germany but they are smaller so don't get quite as full looking as my photos above but ivy geraniums are always part of the plantings. I mix them with the larger upright pelargonium. They overwinter fine here and in a couple of months I'll trim them again and add compost and fertilizer.

Yes Sue, they were everywhere. Germany was so beautiful, even their cemeteries are full of flowers.

Sue, sounds like your balcony is beautiful. Bet the traffic passing by slows down considerably just to get an eyeful of the blooms. Are yours a single flower or is there a double? And yours are year round, that is very fortunate.

I guess this one would be considered a double bloom

This one is one of my favorites

And this one is always in bloom, even now

Sue, your third pic is something like I had bought a packet of seeds of a couple of years back. It was just a single flower and I didn't find it showy enough that is why I was inquiring about doubles. The first two pictures are more what I had in mind. Really like the looks of the first two and the Great Balls of Fire would probably attract more hummers.

That white one has huge blooms for a pel and is usually covered in blooms so it makes a good impact so some of these single ones, depending one the size of the blooms, are real good. In fact almost all the ones in my Germany photos are single blooms. They are clustered at the ends of the stems to really be showy.

I don't think I have ever seen hummers on these, they usually go for my fuchsias and any tube/bell like blooms.

No, hummers don't go after pelargoniums. I just meant the red color would attract them to the gardens for other blossoms if a person has more stuff growing which pretty safe to say everyone on this site probably has.

Ok, that makes more sense because my geraniums only get green caterpillars but they don't support anything else in my garden.
