My usuals I will start early March so I can put them out by early May:
Summer Jewel Red Salvia
Arizona Sunset Hummingbird Mint
Cardinal Climber
Tobacco Lime Green
Tobacco Jasmine
Spanish Flag
Texas Sage Hummingbird Salvia
Moonflower
Agastache Heather Queen
Impatiens Xtreme Pink, new color for this year, my usual was out of stock everywhere
Asarina White

And a few more varieties I'll try a few of each to see how well they do:
Fairy Queen Salvia Seeds
Tobacco Cranberry Isles
Four O'Clock Fairy Trumpets
Ruby Moon Hyacinth Bean Vine Seeds
Pastel Alyssum Seeds
Green Twister Conflower Seeds*
*This one isn't an annual here, but going to try growing them from seed instead of buying more plants.

Nancy ~ That is an awesome list! Have you started any yet, or when will you be starting them?

I have lined up a bunch of petunias to sow, but right now all my shelves are full. Tomorrow I can go down there and make a list of what has been started. Mainly delphiniums, snapdragons, dara and stock. I am surprised at how well they are doing. I did lose a few to damp-off earlier, my precious NZ delphinium seedlings. But I do have some that have survived. Hurray!

I don't start mine until early March, that gives them 2 months' time before going outdoors. I remember when the date for our last frost was May 31st, now I can put plants out May 1st and usually not worry about them. If I get a cold night, I can move them into the garage if need be. And I definitely don't want to be repotting them all into a bit larger pot, at 2 months they need it or be moved. I just don't have the room to do that.

The majority of the space is taken up by Impatiens for the front porch, I need at least 60 of them. It's deep shade (covered porch plus a 50+ year old Magnolia Tree 10' west of the porch), regular impatiens are the only thing that not only grows but stays looking very nice through fall's first frost. Anything else I've tried there fizzles out and stops flowering, the vivid colors on coleus fade to all just pale green, Sunpatiens and New Guinea will flower, but not many flowers at all.

I do have to do my planning and figure out how many of each yet and soonish, what I'm going to have in each container. That helps a lot when it comes time to buying them... if I don't have a list, I always end up over-buying by a lot. When just trying to go off the top of my head what I need for where, it always ends up costing me a lot more! Hilarious!

Edit just to add that anything I start from seeds are those things I can't find locally. I can find regular impatiens for instance, but not in the variety you see online... just the basic plain single tone flowers.

Nancy ~ I agree with you. That is why I have started seeds of annuals I cannot buy locally. In fact, I have never seen any stock for sale besides the dwarf kind. And the same for snapdragons.
I can understand why though. They would be difficult to transport them without breaking them. Many people, and I have in the past, buy them for bedding plants or color bowls, for which the dwarfs are just right.

Just yesterday I started Snapdragons with their long slow lead time.

That's it for the indoor flower starts. I'm going to direct sow Impatiens, Cardinal Climber, Zinnia and Marigolds as soon as the soil is warm enough. The indoor crazy grow time will mostly be veggies.

D'Oh! Forgot about the Cosmos that I picked up at the dollar store for 25 cents that are going in the back of the Marigold bed. Those are going to be started indoors along with a bunch of Coleus that in my area are definitely annuals. I also forgot some dollar store Bachelor Buttons but those are going to be direct sowed in some bare patches in and around my rudbeckias.

Too much veggie planning thought lately. Too little flower.

I just sowed 6 varieties of petunias and 5 varieties of coleus.
A couple of days ago I sowed some Dichondra 'Silver Falls' to go in my shade garden. I hope to take some cuttings so I can make a nice ground cover over the course of the summer.

I am trying to get a head start on the slow-growers. Normally I don't start tender annuals this early.

In the vegetable category I already sowed 2 varieties of eggplant, 2 varieties of peppers, besides lettuce, potatoes, beets and leeks.

It's a little early for me to put any out yet, as the ground is covered in snow, with some melting now, giving way to mud. It is cold and windy out as well, so I haven't actually started gardening yet.

However..some of the coleus seedlings are already up! Not all of them. Maybe some germinate earlier than others?
The ones that germinated are:
Superfine Rainbow Volcano
Fairway Yellow
Both from Swallowtail Garden Seeds
The Mighty Mosaic from Pinetree have not yet germinated. They were all in the same cellpack container, a 12-pack. They were sown on 2/26.

The ones from Pinetree may not germinate as they were pelleted seed from 2021. A lesson here. If anyone has pelleted seeds, sow them as soon as you can. They are not that old, but pelleted seeds do not keep very well at all. I won't give up on them, but I will consider this to be an important lesson. I do not like to waste my money or time. I don't have much left of either! Sighing!

You could post your accomplishment in the perennial and the iris forum.

4000! Wow! Are they all marked with the "parents"?

Wow Lynda. Have you grown them from seed before? How long until you see the first blooms?

Ha ha ha ha ha Evelyn! Of course they aren't labeled. They are also sown about 500 per two gallon containers, so I'd need a ridiculous amount of tiny labels.

I'd rather grow out this many unlabeled in a jam packed nursery bed and select favorites than have to baby individual seedlings.

I have, but about a decade ago. Some bloomed in their second year, some in the third.
