I sell things on the street near me, in NYC, and would like to grow some flowers to sell this summer from seed. Can anyone recommend varieties which are, visually interesting, unusual, and fast to mature?

Welcome to the site!

What flowers do you market now?

Hello, I don't do any... I am in NYC but garden in NJ, and just sell vintage wares on the street, near my apartment in Brooklyn. I just wanted to add some flowers for the fun of it, and people in my neighborhood pay good money for less typical cut flowers.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Annuals with tall stems work well for cut flowers....tall marigolds, zinnias, snapdragons.....they all can be direct seeded, but take a while to flower.....Dahlias are the buzz flowers right now....plant tubers in May, get flowers in July or August....glads are great cut flowers, too. I used to sell glads by the roadside, but thrips ruined my crop, & I gave it up....

Irish bells from seed, 12-20 days for germination, 2months for maturity

I like both snapdragons, and Irish bells. Thanks for the suggestions!

Would add tall verbena to that list .. egiptian walking onions are easy to grow multiply and will live in containers.. can't get more unusual looking than a Medusa onion 🤣
