They flower well and there are a lot of hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies about for pollination. However, the flowers just drop off and don't form seeds. I have had this happen with other Salvias, such as Hot Lips, Argentine Skies, Majestic Spires, and Caradonna, while others produce a lot of seed. Why do some salvias not set seed?

It does well here and its in morning sun no afternoon sun.
It will take semi moist soil ...
I was growing Blue Ensign here for years gorgeous tall salvia.. We had two nights below 20 here this winter in January and it killed the salvia and also a phlox and a clematis..
That rarely happens here but it did happen this year..
Very sad over losing y blue ensign salvia, Ramona clematis and Pink Garden phlox.
Its feeding my hummers each year from May to October in south alabama.
It overwinters here if not in a wet ground area.
I wish I could grow a red tubular salvia here in lower zone 8
does anyone know one.. that can stand the hot summers and humidity
I do not have sandy soil...and I know they like sandy soil.
All the tubular red salvias I have seen online do not do well
in our area..
Any advice? Sheri
