We're urban. A couple of years ago I built dens for critters in order to evict them from two structures on property. They worked... For a while. But I need to do another eviction so I built more dens and I'm going to armor over the entry points. Anyway, we love all of our critters and provide for them on property as well as actively garden to aid in these efforts. So, while walking up the stairs to a covered area that has a couple of dens, I saw one was occupied. I also saw there were multiple little tails that were much smaller than the adult's foot up in the air. I crept closer and saw babies. One of the babies alerted mom and I saw her nose come to the opening. I got the phone ready and gently opened the top. Mom protested while I quickly took this picture and immediately closed the lid. I hung out for a bit to make sure none spooked. At almost dark I watched Mom outside the den clicking to call the babies. One by one they came to the opening, climbed on mom and ended up near or in the pouch. I backed quietly down the stairs and left the yard unoccupied so they had uninterrupted access to food and water. Anyway... sorry about the long-winded account. Enjoy.

Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

Better your house than mine.

Nice picture!

Not too sure about that article re possums and ticks...
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.go...

This article states that dissection of possums found no ticks or tick body parts in stomach contents...
