These plants are native to the semi-desert areas in Mexico, Central America, and northwest South America. Echeveria is named for Atanasio Echeverría y Godoy, a botanical illustrator who contributed to Flora Mexicana.

When I laid a small brick-on-sand entry for my front door... two small areas I left the brick out of were filled with potting soil and planted each spring with interesting plants

Echeveria saviana 'Cheyenne' was part of the planting in June, 2019. It was chosen for its pink tinted gray foliage color. To my surprise it very quickly sent up flower stalks and the buds became bright reddish orange blooms that seemed to last all summer. And as they faded it sent up a few more.
This plant is great fun to grow and to observe growing.
