Thread OP

Hey everyone.

I've visited the site several times in past few months for helpful tips and decided that I really need to join the group so I can enjoy sharing one of my passions with like minded folks lol.

I inherited my mom's passions for flowers and my dads passion for agriculture so I enjoy both flower and vegetable gardening. It's what connects me to both of them and allows me to remain in their presence. Even though I backed away from it a little after my mom passed. My passion for it has been rekindled and is probably stronger than ever.

My mom was an amazing gardener and seemed to know how to get anything to grow and how to make her flowers almost look naturalized around the house. So her level of gardening is what I hope to achieve one day.

I've always had a few flowers around mostly in pots (both indoor and outdoor) while in college. Now I'm trying to create the same peaceful space around me and my wife's home that I was able to experience as a child growing up. If you ask my wife she'd say I'm addicted to flowers lol. But I think of it as just wanting to make sure I have all my bases covered lol.

Anyways I'm happy to be apart of the community and get to know everyone.

Phil

Welcome! to NGA, Philip! We're so glad to have you. It sounds like you're on the right road to becoming a real green thumb, so keep it up! I myself am on that road as well. Everything I seem to plant dies, but I'm trying new things and hoping I have more success with each new growing season that comes around. Thumbs up

Johannian I know what you mean. My wife jokes about how I've killed almost every house plant we have. She'll send me posts about "hard to kill plants" and tag it with "you done killed all of these" lol. The funny thing is I used to do well growing house plants especially the easy to grow kind but more temperamental flowers like African violets I couldn't grow. Now it's the reverse. My African violets and orchid are doing wonderful while I struggle to grow the easy stuff like snake plants or dumb cane.
