I purchased Owyhee Desert from a reputable vendor and this is what bloomed. Could it be a chimera of sorts or is it just too drastically different? I looked over my order, but can't find anything close to what this is. Before it bloomed, the bud looked light blue. Just not really sure what happened. I started a whole new bed for this order so it wouldn't be anything that was already there.

They sent you the wrong iris, I'd notify the vendor and send them the picture, if they are reputable they will send the right one.

So sorry it is not Owyhee Desert because Owyhee is lovely and smells wonderful. I agree with Tom, notify the vendor.

Thanks for the replies everyone. That's what I figured, but was really hoping it could still be Owyhee because that's one of the ones I was looking forward to most. I'll have to contact the vendor.

Oh I know that feeling. Owyhee is a favorite of mine.

Owyhee Desert! My favorite iris! Lovey dubby

I, too, know the feeling of anticipation followed by disappointment and having to wait another year or more for the correct iris.

I do like this white with its overlay of purple. The vendor might know its name. It probably is growing right next to Owyhee Desert in their beds.

Hilarious! The funny thing is part of the reason I wanted Owyhee Desert so much was because of all the hype it receives on these forums!

And yes, hopefully when I contact the vendor they will be able to tell me the variety...it is rather nice and has good branching as well.
