I've recently noticed that search results for forums (using either site-wide or forum-specific search box) are being limited to 20 results.

Now, who believes that there are only 20 posts about Iris on this entire site? Not me!

I think there is a cap on the amount of results you get (in this case 20), otherwise you'd get flooded with possibly thousands of results, especially in the case of "Iris".

It seems like a very responsible and organized way of dealing with many hundreds of results. I can't imagine a better solution, and I think Dave is spot-on here.

Rick, I've been a member here even longer than you (by a few days ) so I'm very familiar with how the site works.

The screen capture above is the page (and results) produced from clicking "*See more results in the forums."

The search function has never produced such limited results before.

Even if a limit on the number of results is intentional, 20 in total seems to be an abnormally low limit.

The Site Talk forum is the place for communicating with Dave and the NGA staff about concerns related to the functioning of the site.

The site is behaving in an novel way that, in my opinion, limits its functionality.

Dave and the NGA staff are the only ones who know if this change was intentional or stems from a bug.

Yes, clicking the "*See more results in the forums." link gives you just 20 results with no option to continue generating additional results. What's more, it gives you the same 20 results you get from the "Search Forums" search box and you get the same 20 results every time you search a given term. I don't use those particular search boxes very often, so am not sure, but believe this is a recent change. Regardless, this limitation greatly reduces search functionality and certainly hope it doesn't get extended to the database search boxes. @Dave ?

The search was last updated on Feb 8th, 2022 when I added the functionality to let it search only within certain forums. Prior to that it searched all forums and didn't let you narrow your search to an existing forum.

Other than that, it has had no changes ever since it was first created in 2016.

So, the maximum of 20 results has always been its functionality. I will see what I can do to add some pagination and expand the results.

If the results were in descending order by most recently active discussion, that would be immensely useful!

Yes, you're right: it is very limiting. Although, I do like the divisions of green pages, forums, plant database, blogs, etc.
