Thread OP

I have a Dragon Tree which has yellow leaves which are falling off and I'm not sure if it's too much water or too little! That might sound odd I know, the reason I find it hard to tell is because when I buy plants from Home Depot they are in soil which is also full of lava rocks and so a) my moisture meter won't work and b) I find it hard to tell if it's wet or dry to the touch due to the rocks.

Also.....I should keep a better track of when I water it......I think it's been a while since I watered it so possibly it's too little water but I'm not sure.

Any advice?

Last night I figured it out. I noticed roots coming out the bottom of the plant so I took it out of the pot and it was very root bound! So definitely a lack of water.....and needed repotting which I did last night. Fingers crossed that solves the problem....

The mix the plants from Hawaii are grown in is half lava and half organic matter. It dries out very fast so it's easy to underwater and hard to overwater, unless the light level is low. Did you remove the Hawaii mix or just move it up? How much bigger is the new pot?

Thanks the light level is quite low. I picked this plant for this spot as I was told it can tolerate low light. When I took it out of the pot I got a lot of the Hawaii mix out yes and then adding potting soil so thankfully now I can use my moisture meter. The old pot was I think 8.5 inches in diameter and the new one is 10 inches.

Keep it on the dry side and you should be okay.
