I live in western WA (Zone 8b) and my fatsia seems to have taken a bit of a hit during our colder than usual winter. It looks like a new leaf has grown but the base of that leaf where new leaves have previously grown from looks damaged. Does anyone know what is going on?

Yes it got too cold this last winter and the tip died. It will probably branch at that point and be bushier. Love the variegation! We had one here on campus but when they removed a big building it got destroyed. Sad

Thank you for the response! I was scared that I had killed it so it's a relief to hear it'll be ok. So sad about the fatsia on your campus! They're beautiful plants and remind me of home (Japan). :)
