Well whose idea were these fragile things anyway? I don't know what to do with it, it's shiny and orange (my favorite color in the garden) but we have hail sometimes and wind a lot, and there doesn't seem to be a way to secure them to any of the display pedastals they sell for these Confused ... starting to wonder if I should just display it inside the house? Has anyone gotten one of these to last very long outdoors??

Mine is purple and more than 20 years old. It stays out all year.

@pirl !! That's a glass one? I had one years ago, the neighbors kiddo broke it accidentally. My neighbor in Oklahoma had one and while she was at work, I was constantly running out to save it when we had wind storms. I guess you don't get hail there where you live? We get crazy hail sometimes.

You're right - it's something other than glass. The glass one I had was broken by a clumsy "helper".

I have a few gazing balls secured to pedestals. Here's how I do it.
I purchase a "clay roll" which is kind of like fun Tac only more pliable and sticky.
Here's a link:
tiny.cc/nw27vz
you have to copy and paste the link
I take a long piece of the clay and roll it between my hands to form a long snake shape. I place the clay around the top perimeter of the pedestal and than carefully align the ball on top making sure I make good contact.
My gazing balls have survived a couple of hurricanes with no damage.

Observe, observe, observe
We are fortunate to "see" & appreciate nature in ways others are blind.
