slowcala said: Cal, I'm so glad they posted this banner today. I'm establishing a Xeriscape Garden, and this is a must have for this wicked heat in summer. My neighbor has one and I had almost forgotten about it, but I went to the Plants Database and saw that it takes the heat and cold as well so it will fit right in.
I only remembered that she had it because I researched all her container plants and identified them for her. Wonders never cease to amaze me!
Thank you again for jogging my brain about this very beneficial plant.
Thanks, slowcala! I didn't realize it's drought tolerant, so will propagate it to
other places. It gets regular water where it is now.
It really is a fine plant all around.
Bees love it, too.
One of our neighbors gave me a few starts ~5yrs ago.....she just pulled them out by the roots, and they took quickly. This one large clump is especially showy when backlit by the sun with a dark background in shadow.
I bought a 1 gal smaller version that's more orange from Home Depot. It has spread as well....I need to put some at the base of the large yellow.

Thanks, Nancy! Wish I could grow things that grow like weeds in colder zones,
e.g. hostas & rhododendrons.
Here are a few pics to show the plant....the banner doesn't do it justice.
As each bloom finishes, it leaves a curl on the stem, which adds to the
overall beauty of it.
