Hi! I'm a new gardener, and I'm concerned that I may have killed my strawberries. There are large, healthy-looking leaves that have grown over the last few months, but the young leaves and leaves in the crown have turned brown! Are my strawberries doomed? What can I do to keep them alive?

For some context, there were a few green aphids on the plants and a large infestation of fungus gnats in the soil, so I've been spraying my plants and the soil with Dr. Bronner's peppermint castile soap (2 tsp diluted in 750 ml distilled water). I've also stopped watering the plants, as the soil is plenty moist from the mulch, rain, and cloudy skies. Should I let the soil dry out completely before watering again? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
