Thread OP

Hello everyone,
A newish gardener here in Northern Illinois. Beginning last year, my wife and I started finally planting some perennials in our yard around our house that we've lived in for 17 years. During that time, I've discovered that I LOVE gardening! I love learning about all aspects of it!

My other passion, which is freshwater fish aquariums, has led me to a forum that I love and participate in daily, so I was wondering if there was something similar for gardening and here I am!!

I'm looking forward to learning and sharing!

Welcome to the site, Leeman! What is the flower in the first pic? It looks like something hummers might like. I'm in the NE part of Illinois and try to grow whatever does well here to keep the little hummers coming back every summer.

Believe it or not, it's Lavender! I have a area of it and I love the color and smell! I've never seen a hummingbird around it, but haven't had a ton of flowers around to attract them until recently. I'll keep my eyes peeled!
