I have space to plant more DL . They will be located in front of the house so I'm wondering which is the showiest color? I'm looking for a short DL w/biggest possible flower.

Many short daylilies with big blooms look awkward and the blooms are overwhelmed by the foliage, but Michael Bennett is an exception. Gorgeous color for a long season- reblooms here in 7a.

What is your size range for "short"?
Also, what color is the house? Showy would be something that contrasts the house (e.g. yellow house so bright red bloom, dark blue house with 'white' bloom or hot-pink bloom, etc).

Me, I would always choose red (unless my house was red).
Red always contrasts grass well, even if yours has gone yellow in summer heat. I just checked and 7" red bloom Spider Man is only a 24" scape, which is a shortie to me. But it is a dormant.

Megatron is slightly taller at 30" scape, but gets you a 10.5" flower. However, also dormant.

If you can access the Jun blooms thread, look at all the ones posted by Betja, she has exquisite taste when it comes to big showy blooms. I am always overjoyed when she posts more eye candy. And she lives in a hot zone like you.

Thanks. I meant to mention color of house. It is beige. It is a wide bed so my surface is brown mulch. I have grass, of course, but visually the brown and beige from house, tree trunks, mulch seem to dominate. I love that M Bennett. Purple is not my color but I'm learning to love it b/c it stands out, esp. near all the brown.

I wish I hadn't stopped journaling. Now I remember that I planted those B. Mitchell and it has been a very disappointing blush pink.

I'll ck out that thread.

Frans Hal's orange always came up an ugly rust.
I have Marks bouquet elsewhere in the garden. It is gorgeous! Dewey everything you suggested is fabulous.

I think I have it in my head to go with intense cool colors to counter all the browness around d my house.

Here are some speaking to me:
Michael Bennett
Laura hardwood
Substantial Rose bud (but too expensive for me)
RomanticcReturns
Lavender blue baby
Deeds not words wanted 20-26, but I might make an exception for this 31 scape. Rats not paying g $40+, as I need 3

I did go to that thread and there are 1,000,000,000 DLs that are outstanding.

My big show month is May so look g for cooler colors. I have PLENTY of hot stuff to carry me thru summer.

This discussion yielded a good tip. Here is M Bennett and I'm not crazy about purple. But this is GORGEOUS!
