I have a long (bare) flowerbed on the west side of the house that I'd like to fill with tall cannas when time comes to plant. I'm looking for recommendations as to varieties that should work in this particular location?

I've grown cannas many years in a variety of situations but never in this exposure. Add to it I'm in a hot spot for my area. Summer air temps can reach as much as 115F, with 106-108F typical in summer. It is in full direct sun from about 1:30pm-7pm. That side of the house just bakes.

I've been reading about many full sun tall canna varieties, all sound perfect, except I can't find any info on whether they will or will not withstand this particular exposure. Can anyone suggest tall varieties you think would do well here?

I'd like cannas 6'-7' tall (even higher if they exist) but at least 4' tall. No color or foliage preferences. Thank you for any help and ideas!

I'm not sure anyone can give you assurances on how they will do at your house. I think they will survive anything with enough water but the leaves may burn by late summer. You could get a couple Cannas and see how they do.

I have some in full sun on regular water and they do fine but I'm in Zone 8.

I don't know what variety my Cannas are, but they do quite well here in full sun as long as they get plenty of water. Like Lucy I'd say try some and see.

I agree, giving plenty of water is going to matter.
Plant it and they will come.

Thank you all for replies. I am in process of redoing the irrgation there and the cannas will have lots of water.

Yes I realize no one knows my home's situation, but if anyone has experience with cannas in a hot west exposure and feels some varieties seem hardier than others, please let me know. I plan to test a few varieties this summer while I'm renovating that area. Any tips are welcome. Thanks.
