I think so- we've had such ridiculous amounts of rain, heat, humidity in the past week after that dry spring.
Plant it and they will come.

Mushrooms. Beneficial to the soil so unless you have dogs that like to eat everything in sight then they are harmless overall.

One of the many slime molds of the Mycetozoan group. In this case, the mold is already in the process of drying up. What look like brown structures is probably the dried mold clinging to blades of grass. Common names: Slime mold, the Blob, Dog Vomit fungus. Formally classified as fungi, but no longer.

Yes, they are very sensitive to chemicals in the air and can detect food. The "blobs" usually form when food is scarce. I'm not sure if they've figured out how this mass of single celled amoeba-like organisms can work in concert to pull up stakes and start moving to a new location.

Smiling I don't think any treatment is needed. (At least, not an herbicide and insecticides Whistling I think Phil is kidding) Maybe wash off the grass with a hose. It's entirely of this planet and was here long before all of us. Smiling
Plant it and they will come.

SallyG is right. No insecticides needed. (I would recommend a flamethrower).
