Good morning we planted these Swedish aspen trees in 2013 and this one isn't doing well this year. I did a scratch test on it and its green, it does appear to have buds on it but still no leaves? I just hammered fertilizer spikes in on July 8th. Our neighbor last fall drained his hot tub which has potentially wrecked part of his grass, did the chemical disturb our trees roots as well ? I am reaching out for some advise. Please let me know if you need more pictures. Thanks for your time in this matter. Brent

Welcome to the site!

Pics would help.

I don't know if your tree will recover but pull out the fertilizer stakes. They aren't helping at this point but may hinder recovery. Fertilizer stakes over-fertilize the roots near the stake and leave the rest of the tree unfertilized.

If the chemicals in the hot tub were still strong, there's a good chance your tree got over-hot tub chemicaled. Was the water still hot? That would make it even worse.

What sort of chemicals are likely to be in the water from a hot tub?

The biggy would be chlorine but at a higher concentration than your drinking water. If they were trying to sanitize it, the chlorine could have been really strong.

I've removed your phone number from your post, stechhabs3, because websites are regularly perused by scammers in search of phone numbers and Email addresses.
