Hi there,

I'm new to Adenium and planted these three weeks ago. They're currently under a grow light with an intensity of 200 PPFD and a photoperiod of 12 hours.

While a few of them are reasonably small, several of them have experienced explosive growth. Their true leaves seem very large compared to what I've seen online, and many of them look deformed.

I'm concerned about them growing too quickly and don't want them to struggle later in life because of it. Is this normal? I hope I'm overreacting haha.

I've feed them once with a heavily diluted mixture of General Hydroponics Flora series products with an added calmag supplement.

They look quite a bit smaller in the photos than they do in person. "Explosive" growth is relative to their size two days ago.

Thank you! Thank You!

@CactGuy Welcome! to the Adenium forum! That is pretty amazing for a 3 weeks old.

That is hard to know at this time but if you did it just one time it should be fine. From what I read, some Adenium growers would give their seedlings the first taste of fertilizer after 1 month. Then other growers would give their seedlings a diluted balanced fertilizer every 2 weeks to speed up the flowering time. Their goal is to give their seedlings a faster chance of growing and seeing the bloom sooner.

Keep us posted though with your progress, that is probably exciting to see them grow fast! I have several seedlings but they are quite small for even over a year old. I have just given some their first taste of blooming fertilizer.
