My cats eat mushrooms with no ill effcts.
Sometimes, I'll pick the mushrooms that I see the cats eating... and make something yummy.

A pile of dead mushrooms is impossible to identify...
Please take pic of fresh mushroom in situ.

I always figger that the animal is smart enough to know what is safe... I notice plenty of mushrooms that they do not eat... That tells you something right there...

There's not much you can do to stop mushrooms from growing. If you are worried about your pets you can try to pick the mushrooms as soon as they appear and/or fence the area off with a temporary barrier.

Never ever eat a mushroom that you cannot positively identify.

Absolutely!
And just because a mushroom isn't toxic for an animal, doesn't mean safe for a human!
