Hi, can anyone help identify this bug? We have found a few in our house in Brighton, UK (am hoping it's not wood eating!). Many thanks in advance

Those two little appendages on its rear, called cerci, suggest a cockroach. There is a species found in the UK called the Smokey Brown. The nymphs have those white bands.
