I have had several of my pepper plants dying recently. The first obvious sign appears like wilt but in every case there is a ring of white web like filaments at the base of the plant and once pulled can be seen as strands in the soil around the roots.

I'm just about to start growing peppers. I hope you find out what is killing yours. Do you have any tips on what I need to grow my peppers. I was given free seeds today.

Possibly Southern blight. It is a problem in Georgia. https://content.ces.ncsu.edu/s....

I took all the affected plants out and disposed of them but if I have more trouble I will try to get some photos. The pictures of the growing mycelium look somewhat like what was on them so I am worried that you might be right Dillard.
