Would appreciate advice re using white versus aluminet shade cloth in food gardens located in north Florida. Cloth would be stretched between 10ft tall posts over raised beds, in order to facilitate tall trellising for 5ft+ high veggies like indeterminate tomatoes, corn, okra, peppers, etc. Goal is to reduce intense summer sun and soil temperatures by reflecting sunlight, while allowing breezes between plant tops and shade cloth to discourage humidity-driven diseases. Have already settled on light colored knitted (not woven) shade cloth, but would like guidance on deciding between white or the new Aluminet. We have 90F+ from May thru mid-fall with high humidity which diminishes fruit set and encourages unpleasant insects and diseases. Thanks for your advice!
