I was looking for something that'd grow under oleander and see lantana as one. It certainly is a hearty plant but not something I'd ever considered for landscaping. Anybody have experience with it?

I have had some trailing Lantana in the past growing at the base of a tree, it stays more like a ground cover, likes to get some good sun. Trailing Lantana (Lantana montevidensis)

I like lantana and was in Lowe's last weekend they were 75% off in perfect condition, they were just trying to get rid of it.

I bought 3 Bandito Red Lantana plants off the Lowe's discount rack back in the spring and they are doing great. I bought 2 more at the half price a month ago to do 2 containers for an Open House and they were the light-yellow color and the people who bought the house loved them. I have 4 plants that the birds planted this year, and the 1st one is so big and beautiful, and the color is pastel pink and yellow.

Lantana likes it hot and grows into a big shrub. Perfect Florida plant in my opinion.

Are they prickly or skin irritating like wild lantana?

Yes, very much so. I'm allergic to them so I try not to handle it or will wear gloves when I do. I'm also allergic to Azaleas.

Lantana has a very hairy surface on the stems and leaves. The rabbits do not eat it though Lovey dubby and they eat almost everything else in my garden beds.
