Edited 10/14/23 to add this photo for the thumbprint.

Big Red - 5 albino seedlings will not survive if left to their own devices, so decided to experiment.

2 - side graft siblings
1 - mix/match siblings, note size differential
2 - graft tiny side branch from different, older Adenium seedling onto albino root, discard top half, although in hindsight, should have tried grafting them to donor plant.

July 27, 2023 - sample seedlings

July 31, 2023 - grafting day, earlier than planned, but based growth differential between siblings. Transplanted albinos next to sibling in anticipation of side grafts soon after germination.

August 7, 2023 - progress at one week.
Albino top/green bottom died.
One albino, side graft died, green partner is good.
Other grafts still growing.

Great experiment! Hope you are successful Hurray!

I haven't been successful grafting seedlings, they shrivel and die.

@GigiAdeniumPlumeria No luck, all albinos died. Only the green side grafted seedlings survived. The albino side shriveled up and died. Now I have crazy glue on sides of two seedlings so I'm thinking I did not do a good job grafting and let the glue get between them. The albino bottom root/green tops died from root rot/shriveling too, maybe same issue with glue getting in between the two halves. Feel like I need an extra set of hands for this project.

I still have seeds from the two sets of seedpods that had albinos so I will try again next spring when they'll have all summer to hopefully grow.

All the other seedpods from Big Red grew normal green babies, at least from the batches of seeds planted.

Oh sorry to hear that! Sad It is probably not the super glue. It is probably that the seedlings are just too young to be grafted. Or maybe after grafting it needed to be placed in a humidity dome.

I have yet to see albino seeds and I have germinated a lot of seeds. I have seen some with variegation but they switch back to normal color when they got bigger.

It is probably good to hold off till spring. Red dragon has really special crosses so I might wait until spring to germinate them since I do not use grow lights and I have no indoor growing space.

I had the grafts in humidity chambers but did not help with this project. Works great for germination and my bougainvillea rootings too, so far so good Crossing Fingers!

Surviving side grafted adeniums. The albino seed pods gave rise to green caudex, other Big Red seedpod seedlings have reddish tint.

Just found this thread, in fact I thought about doing this yesterday, the local people here usually work on the option below, either flat, or with an angle. Next time if I find variegated seed pods, I will try to graft the same. The success rate is very low, I will be happy if I can get 1 out of 5.
Super glue is very risky, it can easily sip into the grafted area. I am thinking of using some plastic clips used for laundry to hold it.

I think the 2 seedpods (of 7) from Big Red that gave rise to albinos came from the same branch. Thinking I am going to see if this holds for the next set of seedpods it generates.

The albino bottom with green top is the graft combination I've seen online, but they usually wait until the albino turns pink. I did it while still white because the sibling seedlings were getting too big to match caudex width, so maybe sowing seeds at various intervals will help with this issue. The next time I get albinos, I will wait a bit longer and not use superglue when grafting. Let me know if you get a chance to try this and how it goes.

Is there a way to rename this thread to just Adenium albino grafting or something more generic so if you or anybody else with albinos want to post in the same thread it's not about Big Red?
