So an office I work at has decided to abandon two very tall mature Dracaena trees because they were pushing up at the glass ceiling so they have both been put outside and will be left outside.

I had suggested that they can be cut down to size but the office no longer wants them inside regardless. When the winter frost arrives they will perish so I might offer to take them to put in my jungle kitchen however these two dracaena trees have always been in bright light under a glass ceiling and even more light being outside so I'm wondering how they would cope if they were suddenly in a low light situation such as my kitchen?

I assume they'll make do until better conditions come along.

Or possibly cut them into a few sections , different heights. This way the plant will be propagated into an easier height to maintain. Remove 2 bottom leaves where they will root . Either put them in water to root or damp sterile soil. In a few months when they have rooted place them all in one or two pots with good potting soil , place in a warm indirect sunny area . Easy peasy. Thumbs up

Kevin, have you dragged these plants home yet?

Not yet I've had a lot going on and I've not been back to the office to make further esquires as to whether they will let me take them. I'm not in any rush. Maybe this week I will know more. I have to speak with the manager about them.

@AmberLeaf your house/patio/balcony pprobably has some shady zones as sun moves, try moving them to progressivlly shadier areas over several weeks?
I would be more concerned about pest or fungus attack when outdoors since these are essentially houseplants.
If you move them back indoors, grow lights on timer for the adjust. since they are tall, check out the LED 5 meter tape rolls or the 48 in (1.2m) LED fllourescent fixture retrofit lights.
fringe benefit: you can enjoy that cool pinky-purple-y fuchsia techno-rave atmosphere if you get the red blue 60/40 lights

I've never been a fan of the pink-purple grow lights, it just doesn't feel natural to me and as I'm only growing green foliage I feel a lot of that light is being wasted when its just the blue and white I need but I do have some pink-purple grow lights and I'd imagine they would look cool lighting up a some tall palm like dracaenas. I need to get some new grow lights for my pothos the ones that have the extendable arms.
