These odd growths have appeared on the stems on my Cherry tomato plant and I am not sure what they are. I noticed them around the time I first noticed aphids on the plant and used a pesticide to kill them. Since then, I have not seen any more aphids, however these growths remain and occasionally a new patch of growth will appear. My Cherry tomato plant also has many dying leaves around the base of the plant, and it seems that more new dead leaves appear every day higher up on the plant. All of this has lead me to believe that there is something wrong with my tomato plant, all though I am not sure what exactly is wrong. Can anybody help me?

PS: I have another considerably smaller tomato plant of the same variety that has shown no symptoms listed above. They are also kept close together.
I always wish to know more
