Thread OP
orange county, New York State.
I have a wall of Norwegian spruces blocking my neighbor that now are getting more sparse as they've grown very tall. Looking to add a tree to block my neighbors 2nd floor window where there now is a gap, while also leaving room to walk underneath. So something that will block from 6' to 20'. Preferably evergreen and not wider than 15 feet. And something that won't mind growing up against Norwegian spruces. Contemplating getting a yellow pine and pruning out lower branches. Something that will pop against the dark spruces behind would be nice. Yes I know I'm asking for a lot…. Also tempted to let a vine grow up the spruces to add coverage but imagine this might not be good for the spruces. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

See what you think of Pinus densiflora 'Umbraculifera'. Great bark on that one, which would pop in front of your spruces.
