My order from Les Jardins Osiris arrived a few days ago.

Roots are fresh and neatly packed with moist spagnum moss. I put in my order in July, don't hear back or get any confirmation from them at all. Last week, they charge my credit card and I received the root package a few days later (no tracking number was communicated). So in short, no communication and they will send you your order with whatever they have left at shipping time. (For me, they ran out of Vivid Rose so they just don't charge for it).

Overall, I will order again in the future as the roots have many eyes and hopefully those feeder roots will survive and give my plants a greate start next year. Also got a Cytherea but too excited to plant and forget to take a picture of it.

Serene Pastel:
Nice little root with maybe 7-8 eyes.
Thumb of 2023-09-17/minhhiep87/5b1457

Bartzella:
Much bigger than the other roots in this batch, maybe due to it being itoh. Not seeing as many eyes as the other but should not be a problem.

Myrtle Gentry:
Just look at those pink eyes on the roots!!!

Pink Parfait:
A bit on the short side but with plenty of eyes.

Cytherea - don't have picture but the root must have more than 10 eyes, also on the short side root mass wise. I observed it and got carried away with finding a good position to lay it in the flower bed so forget to take a picture of it.

More to come and I can't wait to see what your 2023 roots look like.

Hiep Nguyen, nice roots and look a bit unusual, maybe tissue culture? Looking forward to seeing pictures of them in spring! I also received my first order, it is from Brandamore Specialties.

I think Osiris grow all their peonies in pots so the roots look somewhat trimmed down and on the shorter side, but comes with lots of good looking feeder roots.

Hi Hiep! Thanks for sharing your photos and experience! Congratulations on your new plants. Your experience aligns with mine in terms of ordering - you get what you get and you'll only know what you missed out on when the box shows up at your door.

Anya, great observation. I believe Hiep is right on the money that the plants are pot-grown as they tend to grow lots of fine, fibrous roots in pots as opposed to larger taproots in the ground. At one point I had more plants from Osiris than from any other vendor in my garden and they all grew really well; no complaints from me.

Thanks for sharing photos of your order, Anya! I've never seen roots from Brandamore before and they look good. I had the pleasure of meeting Matt of Brandamore at the NY APS convention and he was great, so it's nice to see him get some support and to see what he's sending out. Enjoy! Anemoniflora Rosea is an awesome dwarf plant.

Exciting to see plant orders coming in! Have fun, folks!

So exciting to see new roots this season! I specifically asked for all of mine to be shipped 2nd week of Oct, beauty of ordering from specialty growers is they are so accommodating with shipping dates. I'll just have to live vicariously through the forum for the next couple of weeks!

So it looks like this will be the last year I'll have to fly to AL to plant! Jeff's company arranged a transfer to Huntsville AL, our CO house goes on the market 1st week of Oct and we're moving as soon as it sells! I'm letting the Huntsville hiring managers decide if I'm retiring or not, have my resume out to a few places to see what's available. If I'm offered a position that sounds good I'll accept, if not I'll be going between Huntsville and the cottage in Columbiana, spending a ton of time with my peonies!

My order from Pivoines Capano arrived 2 days ago. I put them in the ground right away. Caroline is very nice and accommodating. I ordered Petite Porcelain, Paul Bunyan and Langley from her. Wanted a Glowing Rasberry Rose but that one is out of stock.

Petite Porcelain. Have 7-8 big eyes. Big nice fresh roots.
Thumb of 2023-09-23/minhhiep87/06afc4

Paul Bunyan. Good amount of nice size eyes and lots of tiny eyes. On a single big storage root. Caroline is extra nice and send an extra root of Paul Bunyan as the division is not as good as she wanted. So I order 1 and get 2 roots.

Langley. A nice root that looks awesome in everyway a root can look.

Things are tense here.
I am still planting fall bulbs, and now the peony roots are arriving!
This is my order from Oh My Peonies. They are Duchesse de Lorraine,
my Itoh splurge.

Caroline, great to see plants coming the US arrive to you so quickly. I woke up to a temperature of 1C this morning - a reminder that the countdown to frozen ground is now on.

You picked out some nice plants. You'll have to keep us posted and let me know how Goldilocks does for you here up north. I've had my eye on that one!

I am hoping for another few weeks of no freezes.
In the past I have also used my tea kettle to thaw the ground.
And last year I stored roots in an old camping cooler packed with peat moss. Left it in the unheated car port and they were fine, except for the ones I planted in April. The ones planted in May were fine.
The April ones could have suffered vole damage?

I got my roots from Adelman's already. They came a week ago but not only were my kids sick but it was rainy and I had houseguests. I planted them yesterday then realised I left the tag on the tree peony (my first ever!)! Do I need to dig it out?

Did everyone else ask Adelman's to hold their roots until after the sale?

That is my size 8.5 foot for scale.

Wonderful roots, Hiyamakki !

I had never thought of that, but sounds like a great idea to ask.

Got my roots from Hollingsworth. Disappointing really. I guess I've been spoiled by Solaris and Adelman's massive roots which cannhave upto 12 eyes. I had a hard time actually finding the third eye on one of my Hollingsworth roots (all were 3 or 4 eyes). It was hiding under the tag!

Got to Alabama yesterday and my Adelman's order did as well! First roots of the season for me, Brooks is on the way though and Solaris and Cricket Hill will be here soon, too. Ordered for the first time from My Favorite Flowers and More, those are supposed to ship at the end of next week. Here is my Adelman's order.

Sorry that the roots from Hollingsworth were disappointing, Hiyamakki. Sometimes a growers will have a bad year with certain varieties. I'm looking forward to seeing the bloom on Kisseltoes.

Liz, your roots look awesome.

I'm hoping to start opening my boxes this weekend.
