Thread OP
Ann Arbor, MI
I got dahlias from Michigan bulb this spring in two mixes - pompon mix and karma mix. Now I want to identify the specific cultivars that we've got, and there's no info in the website and customer service seems to be nonexistent. Just thought I'd take a random shot to see if anyone here knows what the varieties / cultivars might be in those mixes?

The dahlias in the mix may not be registered varieties. And if they are, my chances of winning the lottery are probably better than a correct ID:)

often mixes are dahlias grown from seed/unnamed cultivars- not because they aren't beautiful flowers and great tuber producers, but that they are so similar to an existing variety it's not worth registering it, OR someone misplaced the label on a bin.

I can make some guesses and be close enough... BUT Since we dahlia collectors are FANATICS, If you ever pass them on, in a swap, gift or yard sale, etc, I would kindly ask that you call it "similar to ---" or "probable ---" that said..

the red/maroon ball looks "similar to Cornel". the purple white might be "duet". if you have close ups of others, I'll give you something similar. I know when you keep them year over year you want to label it something that you can look up...
