I have a female flower with a little pumpkin on my vine. I went out this evening and notice the pumpkin behind the flower is now shriveled up. Any guidance on this?

Y'all have been amazing with all this info! Making this first time gardener's experience great!

It didn't get pollinated. Were there male flowers open at the same time?

Now that I think about it. There wasn't a male flower around at the time. Guess the timing wasn't there. Maybe next time

The female flower never got the chance to bloom btw! Does that change things?

Not every flower gets a chance to fulfil its genetic destiny. The circle of life sometimes has a gap or two.
