I have two orchids that look healthy and I have buds on them waiting to flower. I know very little about orchids and it worries me that the roots are exposed and crawling out of the pot. Is this normal? Also, do they need pruning.? I would appreciate your advice. Thank you

Florence, those escaping roots are perfectly fine and no, they don't need pruning. Your plants look fine, enjoy your up-coming show.
