I have this huge philodendron. Can I cut at either the blue or red mark and repot or will it mean death to the plants if I do that? You can see the pot is full of roots that have come out from the stem.

Hi Anna!
We cut ours back regularly. Personally, I don't think you can kill these! Big Grin
Though I will say ours is in the ground, but only after it stayed in a pot for more than about 20 years.

Would you cut it at the red mark, or the blue one, which is below some of those air roots?

Well, hmmm, what is it that you're trying to achieve? Your goal?
Keeping it in same pot? Planting in ground? Larger pot?
Personally, I kind of like the tree look, but ultimately, it depends on the look you want to achieve. Shrug!

I just thought maybe it "needed" a new home. However, if those that know much more than me about these beasts (which is everyone) think it will be fine as is, I will leave it. When I put it in the garage/greenhouse, I cut all the leaves off. When it comes out the beginning of May, you'd think it's done for. But, outside and a rain or 2 later it perks right up.

Curious… why do you cut all the leaves off?

The garage is not an optimum greenhouse. Too dark. So, to keep things kind of in a semi-dormant state, or slow the growth down, I cut the leaves. I also do that to my Alocasias in the pots. It's their "rest" time. The temp is set at 58. The building has passive solar heat; the heat collectors cover the windows. The Spousal Unit made it. Does a good job, but sure cuts down on the natural light.
