Has anyone had any success with this? It seems that nasturtiums and mint plants are recommended for repelling the SVBs.

I never even thought about that. I love yellow squash and wish I could grow it but I never could keep up with squashing the eggs and bugs.

I'll watch this because SVB are so bad. But I can't imagine unleashing mint in my vegetable garden. Haven't grown nasturtiums.
Plant it and they will come.

I already have catnip all over the veg garden (not intentionally) so mint probably wouldn't be any worse - but I think it could be grown in pots and put around the squash plants Smiling .

Catnip- samesies!! Once a catnip, always many catnip. Hilarious!
I didn't think of a pot.
So the SVB supposedly avoid the scent of mint ? I think you know me well enough that I can say, honestly, I don't believe in this concept. I hope someone can contradict me.
Plant it and they will come.

Gotta admit, I've found the whole "mint plants repel pests" theory weak in practical experience, and I grow lots of mint, many varieties. Peppermint essential oil is quite effective in certain applications, but entirely impractical for widespread, ongoing use.

I know that aphids like nasturtiums, but I don't know if they actually draw them from other plants.

I'm not sure I believe in the concept either - but it sounds a lot better than digging the larvae out of the squash stems Hilarious! . It seems to me that the nasturtiums will likely be better at attracting bees and other pollinators for the squash flowers than repelling the SVBs, but I like growing some flowers in the veg garden anyway.
