Hello everyone, I'm new to posting on forums but I wanted to find out if anybody has ever had a Monstera that they are growing put out mutated shaped leaves?
Because I have one that is doing just that.
It has put out two mutated leaves. The first one has a small mutation of just two tips on the end of the leaf. Nothing major nothing crazy but the next leaf that formed has three separate leaves mutated into one, and I've never seen anything like it.
The leaves right now are slowly unraveling.

I'll post a couple pictures of what I'm talking about.

Welcome! to the site!

To my eyes, most look like leaves that just haven't fully unfurled yet, sometimes they are very slow. The leaf in the next to last photo may have damage that happened before it began to open but I can't really tell for sure.

@Gina1960 is quite familiar with plants in this family and perhaps she will be able to help.

It's called fasciation. It's not all that uncommon in aroids. My anthuriums do it with their spadices sometimes. I've had a few plants do it with leaves too

Thank you Gina I've never heard of fasciation before ,I looked it up. It's very interesting. I'm curious to see if it keeps putting out weird leaves or not?

It basically just has three leaves coming from one extra wide stem the second leaf now it's starting to unfurl along with the third leaf.
If I look down the stem, I can see where it's getting ready to put out a new leaf/stem and I'm excited to see if that one's going to be mutated or if it'll go back to normal

I have certain anthuriums that will do it, mainly with their spadices but I have had a few leaves as well. Its most common on anthurium blooms because the spathe is a modified leaf. Its very common on spadices of complex hybrids where the genetics may not quite mesh
