Hello Everyone,

What types of paintbrushes are the best to use for hand pollinating your Zinnias and do you have a brand or source that is preferable?

I like the kind that comes to a fairly sharp point, with dark-colored "hairs" that make it easy to see the yellow pollen on the tip. Synthetic or natural.

Thank you! Do you use high quality? I've been told to look at the dollar store but I'm concerned about quality (the "hairs" falling out, etc)

I would be leary of the Dollar Store. I got all of my art supplies, including brushes, in the art department of a hobby store. Nowadays I might buy art supplies from Amazon. But dabbing zinnia pollen isn't critical. I have on occasions used the tip of my little finger when I didn't have anything better handy. As a different way of doing it, I also pick the florets themselves with tweezers or forceps and rub the florets on target stigmas.
