Hi there,

My weeping larch is a few years old and this year it started growing a secondary branch that wants to grow straight up. I staked the branch to try and make it bend downward but all the off shoots are starting to grow upward. It looks odd but wanted to be patient hoping that eventually the branches will form in a normal manner. Should I leave it alone or should I cut it off? Any advice would greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not familiar with larches but most weeping trees are several (3 or 5) weeping branches grafted to the top of a straight trunk. When one branch grows weird, its a sucker and should be removed. Read this:
