I have finally decided to get assistance. Beginning of summer I bought a yellow Jerusalem sage in a four inch pot. I transferred it to a three gallon pot and it grew a little and even bloomed. Then it died back and stopped blooming. I am in zone nine and its supposed to be compatible. I think for awhile it was getting heavily shaded by other plants. Its getting fertilizer and regular watering. In October I noticed it starting to grow more. I also just acquired a purple Jerusalem sage. Do these plants need as much sun as possible to grow, or can they be semishaded. Is a three gallon pot too small for it to grow in. Any help, or suggestions would be appreciated.

They do grow better in full sun than partial shade. A 3 gallon can is big enough for the first year and then it will need a bigger container or be planted in the ground.

Eric, I added some info on the containers thread. Agree with John about pot size; they can get big and woody.
