I'm a bit confused about if a cultivar named Mentha 'Julep' exists. I bought a plant labeled as such, but I'm not sure if it is just a common name mix up... I can't seem to find much online. Is it a real cultivar, or is it actually a species? Thanks.

What constitutes a "real" cultivar? Anyone can start selling some particular plant clone, or seed strain, and give it an arbitrary name. It's pretty obvious to anyone who's purchased seeds and plants for a while, that the names given do not necessarily distinguish the thing bought from others with a different name.

This is especially obvious in the mass market/home gardener seed trade. Lots of folks will buy 'X' seed, saying to themselves 'Oh boy, a new variety 'X' of whatsit just came out, gotta try it this year'.
