Someone recently mentioned "tailored" iris form, and I don't know exactly what this means. Does it mean no ruffles or lace? Please share your definition and post some pictures, please. Thank You!

Laurie, you can go to our iris database search page at https://garden.org/plants/grou... .
Click on "tailored" and then "search" and it will filter out all but the tailored irises.

But yes, these only have very minimal ruffling, if any, And no lace, probably.

You might want to bookmark this search page, for it's very handy!

Hey, thank you, Daisy. This helps. So basically tailored form = historic form. Although I understand "historic" includes any iris 30 (?) years or older, so maybe not a accurate synonym.
I do like the ruffled tailored form. Smiling

"I do like the ruffled tailored form."

I do, too, Laurie. They just don't have the same degree of ruffling as the modern ones, but still it's often just enough to be quite lovely, while still retaining a classic form, with standards that arch to closure at the top, or nearly so.

I don't much care for the old ones that still had the hound-dog-ears falls, but there was a sweet era in the '60s through the '90s where the falls had been improved, but the form was still regarded as "tailored," and, I think, quite pretty.
