Ok technically it's still fall but is anybody else already drooling over seed catalogs and planning for next summer's gardens? I winter sow every year but that forum is slow so I thought I'd ask here.
I've ordered a few seed packets already and planning to make my butterfly bed bigger or maybe start a new one. Trying to add some more perennials for hummingbirds too.

Yes, I am definitely already looking at things to plant for next year! Definitely lots of tomatoes and peppers. The Irises are doing well (dormant right now), and should come back next year.

Hi Christie,

Well, only a few days left in 2023, but my son ordered from Burpee so we received the Burpee catalog a few days ago. Lots of scrumptious color pictures. The ironic thing is that I sent Burpee a seed order on their website several weeks ago, and I have some of their zinnia seeds up now in my indoor growing project. I had also requested and received the 2023-2024 GeoSeed catalog, and placed an order for some zinnia seeds with them, which I received, and also have some of those zinnia plants growing indoors under fluorescent lighting. I am a long-time zinnia hobbyist, and these are some photos of some of my zinnias from previous years. Don't forget, you can click on the photos here to open even larger versions, which you can then close by clicking on the "X" in their lower righthand corner.

I have done some cross-breeding with Zinnias to get some new Zinnia forms, and these are a few examples of that.

As I have said elsewhere, it can be fun to breed your own zinnias. Thumbs up

I wouldn't be without zinnias. I've planted a lot of flowers and host plants over the years to attract butterflies and zinnias are still at the top. Last year I ordered 'Scarlet Flame' in bulk because I've had good luck with those. Hummingbirds and goldfinches like them too. Not all of them were red. I got a few surprises. I don't know if it came from the seeds I ordered or volunteers from the year before or both. Some were cactus form which I've never planted. It's like opening Christmas presents. lol
