For months now I have been trying to grow Winter Savory from seed but no matter what I use for a soil mix the seedlings die after growing an inch or so. They're under a grow light setup that worked well with Marjoram. Once sprouted I've tried medium or light watering, bottom watering, spritzing, light fertilzing and none, but all seem to brown and fail within a month. I've had good success in my garden (6000 feet in SW New Mexico) but want to get a head start for next year. Thanks!

Growing Winter Savory from seed can be tricky. Ensure you're using a well-draining seed starting mix to avoid waterlogging. Overwatering can lead to damping-off, so try bottom watering to keep the topsoil dry. Adjust your grow lights to be a few inches above the seedlings and keep them on for about 14-16 hours a day. Avoid fertilizing until the second set of true leaves appears, and even then, use a half-strength solution sparingly. Good air circulation is crucial to prevent fungal issues, and maintaining a steady temperature around 70°F helps. Remember to acclimate seedlings gradually to outdoor conditions. Also, check that your seeds are fresh and from a reliable source. Keep tweaking these factors until you find the right balance for your setup. Good luck!
I know I have dirt under my fingernails.
