I planted 100 Cyperus papyrus seeds (that I ordered) in a pot of never before used soil in July 2022. After 90 days one sprouted and over the winter it grew five 3-4" culms. In the spring it went outside and grew a bunch, but never took on the shape of what I would expect Cyperus papyrus to look like in it's first year. Very thin, no infloresence. Longest culm is about 3'.

I think you are growing some sort of reed. I grew Papyrus at one time - the stems always had a brushy leaf on top, even when small. The stems at ground level don't look right either.

Thanks @Lucy68 I have been pretty sure of the same thing, but was hopeful that I was missing something and that maybe they just take 2 years to mature. Haha. I guess I'll order some more seeds from somewhere else. My guess is they mixed them up????

A handsome plant nonetheless.
