I started working at a new place and there's this beautiful hibiscus (I believe it's a rose queen, unless someone can tell me otherwise?) above a water feature. The above pic is the first I took. I figured it was just the winter making it look leggy, but it hadn't been fed to my knowledge so I sprinkled on a bit of fertilizer (12-15-12). Since then, it's been dropping leaves like crazy, as you can see in the following pics.

I'm in zone 10a. Any observations or advice are appreciated.

I guess it wasn't hungry. In case the fertilizer is to blame, water it generously to rinse as much of it out as possible.
