Thread OP
Tarzana, CA,
I planted pepper trees to make a visual screen to block the large house next door. I would really like some advice on how to prune them to make the branches as full as possible. They are about 20 ft tall and have several large branches with smaller branches filling in some but they are still too see through. I live in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles and the trees are an about 20 ft tall with several long stalk type branches heading straight up at the tops. They have been on the ground here for about 4 years.
Thanks.

cut the top off, will make the hedge "bush-out"

cut the sides off, will make the hedge "grow up-wards"

Hedge trimmers and fertilizer are your friends. Use both judiciously to make it as full as possible.

Tarzana, CA,
Thanks, I had a tree trimmer come out yesterday and told him to cut off 8-10 feet. So it sounds like that is the right idea.
