has been a source of deep and abiding pleasure for almost 8 years now. In early evenings when temperatures have cooled and the light is softer it's a great place to sit back and daydream. A book once defined a garden as "a calm and restful spot or region" and that is what this garden says to me. It's a very personal place.
It is not a garden of bright and flashy colors. Most of the flowers in this area are white or blue. There are, however, a pink peony and a few pink balloon flowers and the lilies have strong pink streaks on their white petals for some accent.
The wrought iron bench in the second photograph looks great and fits right in... and is the most uncomfortable bench in existence today. Fluffed and firmed pillows are necessary if you want to sit on it. On the plus side, if you do sit down you are low enough to be in and among the plants. It's a good level for taking close-up photos.
There are a few plants with colorful leaves. Heuchera Caramel comes to mind. But the majority of the plants are clothed in varying shades of glossy and matte green. This lends itself to the overall feeling of peace and quiet.
In another part of the garden three hellebores are raising flower stems for a display that will begin in February and last awhile. The clumps of False Garlic in this small bed won't be far behind.
